Jorgen Cieslik trained under Gary Heatlie, Art Eyes in Johannesburg and the eye institute in Pretoria for a number of years before starting his own practise in Krugersdorp. He is also involved in his other practise in Nelspruit, and runs a monthly prosthetic clinic at St. John’s Eye Hospital in Chris Hani Baragwanith Hospital under Professor Mclaren.
Jorgen Cieslik is one of the founding members of the African Ocular and Orbital Prosthetic Association (AOPA), that was establishes in 2020. This association was created to promote ocularists in South Africa and Africa.
Jorgen served as president of AOPA from 2020 to 2022.
Jorgen Cieslik has fitted more than 26 000 custom prostheses, stock eyes and numerous facial prosthetics as well as being involved in numerous studies, projects and congresses.
Through the networks and relationships created by Jorgen, he is able to advise and assist with relevant and up-to-date information with regards to implants, surgical procedures, care of the prosthesis and socket hygiene.
Jorgen was involved in the successful training of two ocularists, one student from Cameroon and another from South Africa.
